The Vinyl Junkies Record Shack is a brick & mortar shop based out of San Diego, California. From funk to punk, soul to hip hop, classic rock to jazz, psychedelic to blues (and the list goes on)… we carry it! So if you’re looking for that rare psych record or the latest Tame Impala release, Vinyl Junkies is an excellent place to get your record collecting fix.

We’re located in San Diego’s quaint and fiercely independent neighborhood of South Park, right across from the popular Whistle Stop Bar.

Live Bands and DJs

We regularly feature DJs and live band performances at the shop and we hope to resume them soon!

Some amazing artists who have performed in the past include Lol Tolhurst (The Cure), KFlay, Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke), Starcrawler, Diamond D, One Be Lo (aka One Man Army), Dale Crover (Nirvana / Melvins), and David J (Bauhaus / Love and Rockets).

Vinyl Junkies Pop-Up Shop

The Vinyl Junkies Pop-Up Shop is a quarterly event, held outdoors at the Krakatoa Cafe in Golden Hill. Many vendors participate from all over Southern California with thousands of records to sell, DJs spinning sweet tunes throughout the day, and great food and alcoholic drinks are available in Krakatoa. All Ages and just $5. Join us for the next Vinyl Junkies Pop-Up Shop on Saturday, October 17th from 11am-5pm!

Sonic San Diego

Sonic San Diego is the event organizing branch of Vinyl Junkies. We have decades of experience of booking great bands and DJs for all kinds of events. Most recently, Sonic San Diego has been organizing the monthly Seaport Sessions Music and Arts Festival in Seaport Village and shows at the luxury apartment complex Broadstone (now Vida North Park).

ABOUT US

Vinyl Junkies was established in 2012 by Eric Howarth, the former owner of record label Hi-Speed Soul (Nada Surf, Swervedriver, Afghan Whigs, and Film School). After selling his first record shop of 8 years in San Diego and taking a hiatus from record retail to run his label full time, the world of vinyl pulled him back in and Vinyl Junkies was born as a mobile record shop selling at events in Southern California. Soon after, Eric approached Tim Mays of the legendary Casbah club about putting on the Vinyl Junkies Record Swap meet. The idea was met with enthusiasm and the bi-monthly event was born. After years of success with the Swap, in mid-2017 Eric and Tim decided to partner up financially and open the brick and mortar location in South Park that we have today.

We take special pride in the personalized service for our customers and aim to be the “go to” source for serious record collectors and new vinyl listeners alike.
