"Meridian Brothers & El Grupo Renacimiento" is an effort from Meridian Brothers to excavate the forgotten sounds of fantastical 1970s salsa dura group El Grupo Renacimiento. The group identifies as "B-class" salsa whose music touches on themes of human suffering in the urban city landscape, such as police brutality, social marginalization, and addiction. Meridian Brothers has worked together with El Grupo Renacimiento at the classic Isaac Newton studios in Bogotá, Colombia to capture this "Fantasy Salsa Dura" music.
