In her debut recording, Japanese pianist Ayako Kitanaka explores the fascinating evolution of the Polish piano prelude, bringing together works by Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Kazimierz Serocki and Pawel Mykietyn. From the poetic intimacy and emotional depth of Chopin's celebrated 24 Preludes, Op. 28 to Szymanowski's richly expressive early compositions, Serocki's vibrant neoclassical writing and Mykietyn's striking contemporary sound world, this double album offers a captivating journey through nearly two centuries of Polish piano music.Combining technical precision with sensitivity and expressive intensity, Ayako Kitanaka reveals the remarkable diversity of the prelude, highlighting both the continuity of Polish musical tradition and it's enduring spirit of innovation.
