Donaueschinger Musiktage 2025 - Voices Unbound CD

A debut release with collector's value: the 2025 documentation marks the beginning of the new partnership between the Donaueschinger Musiktage and WERGO. For the first time, selected audio recordings from a festival year are being released jointly with WERGO on CD and digital platforms-making the music premiered in Donaueschingen permanently accessible. The first box in this partnership is dedicated to the festival motto Voices Unbound. Raised, inner, hidden, naked, intimate and (un)sung voices: the Donaueschinger Musiktage placed at their centre composers who raise their voices-in both the literal and the figurative sense. I am delighted that, with WERGO, we have found an ideal partner for publishing the festival documentation. We hope that this will allow the music premiered in Donaueschingen to reach an even wider audience, says Lydia Rilling, Artistic Director of the festival, of the new partnership.Founded in 1921, the Donaueschinger Musiktage are among the internationally defining forums for New Music. Every year on the third weekend in October, they present numerous world premieres-from ensemble and orchestral concerts to solo recitals, electronic performances and sound installations. The selection included in this box brings together key highlights of the festival and carries the latest sound art from Donaueschingen beyond the festival weekend and into the home: an indispensable documentation for festival audiences, collectors and everyone who wants to experience New Music at the cutting edge.
