Gaia Wilmer's music draws on Brazilian traditions while staying rooted in contemporary jazz and improvisation. Her Large Ensemble has toured in Brazil and performed at Lincoln Center. Gilberto Gil the Brazilian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and politician, is one of the central gures in Brazilian popular music. He is especially known as a co-founder of Tropicália, a movement that reshaped Brazilian music by blending traditional Brazilian styles with rock, reggae, funk, and other global influences.
