Veils Of Love CD

Armenian soprano Kristina Mkhitaryan presents her debut solo album: a dazzling program of operatic recitative and arias. Showcasing the expressive power of the soprano voice, this recital recounts tragic stories of hapless heroines facing impossible situations whose only resolution appears to be resilience, madness, or suicide. Kristina's unique voice and musicianship weave through a wide-ranging of styles, from Mozart's elegant restraint (Ach, ich fuhl's) to some bel canto classics (Oh! Quante volte, Quando rapito in estasi) by way of Verdi's and Puccini's emotional intensity (Gualtier Malde!, Addio del passato, Si. Mi chiamano Mimi, Donde lieta usci, among others). Massenet's Manon completes the picture. Constantine Orbelian and the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra provide the meticulous accompaniment.
