Lafayette Afro-Rock Band - Darkest Light 7" (Preorder: Ships December 4, 2026)

Strut presents two classic tracks from the inimitable Lafayette Afro-Rock Band, finally availabletogether on 7' vinyl: the endlessly sampled Darkest Light, backed with the quintessential Hihache. The opening bars of Darkest Light are instantly recognisable to funk and hip-hop heads. Originallyreleased on the Lafayette Afro-Rock Band's Malik album, the track went on to become a defining hip-hop motif, sampled by Jay-Z, Public Enemy, Wreckx-N-Effect and many more.On the flip, Hihache emerged as a firm favourite as hip-hop culture exploded in the 1980s. Takenfrom the group's iconic Soul Makossa album, it's larger-than-life drum break became a foundationalsample, most famously appearing in Biz Markie's Nobody Beats The Biz, among countless others. Two essential cuts from a hugely influential group, now pressed in a strictly limited run of just 500copies on black 7' vinyl.
