In 1969, Led Zeppelin's management asked mastering guru Bob Ludwig to make the second album as "loud as possible". However, this aggressive cut resulted in high output levels that caused the needles on record players of the era to jump out of the grooves. Atlantic Records quickly ordered a recall and had their engineers create a new, quieter master of Led Zeppelin II.  But with today’s stereo gear, this has now become the coveted and rare “hot mix” that sounds killer on your home stereo system!
