Wide As The Sky CD

On Wide as the Sky, pianist and composer Lynne Arriale presents nine original compositions exploring openness, connection, resilience, and the human spirit. Her 18th album as a leader and fifth for Challenge Records International brings together bassist Alon Near and drummer Lukasz Zyta, whose sensitivity and virtuosity create the kind of deeply interactive musical conversation that has become a hallmark of Arriale's trios.'I was drawn to the image of the vast sky and the sense of openness, expansiveness, and possibility it evokes,' Arriale says. 'I hope each listener can find a personal connection to the music.'From the reflective An Open Heart and uplifting Turn and Face the Sun to the rhapsodic Mysteries, the soulful Kindness, and the free-flowing closing piece Radiance, the album moves through a rich spectrum of moods and influences.Rooted in jazz yet reaching beyond genre, Wide as the Sky is a deeply expressive and spiritually resonant work, shaped by Arriale's distinctive voice, lyrical touch, and unwavering musical authenticity.
