With Solo Eight, Canadian violinist Marc Djokic continues his exploration of the solo violin repertoire in a bold and eclectic second album, following Solo Seven, which won an East Coast Music Award in 2020.Across 17 tracks, he brings together works by eight composers, including Philip Glass, Missy Mazzoli, Jessie Montgomery, Darius Milhaud, Avner Dorman, and Wynton Marsalis. Spanning minimalism, contemporary virtuosity, folk influences, and sonic experimentation, Solo Eight reveals the full expressive richness of the violin. It is a program that pushes the boundaries of the instrument, driven by Marc Djokic's creativity and sensitivity.
